We will be offering short introductions to services and awareness raising after our Forum meetings. Training booked so far this year to follow our meetings between 10:45 – 11:45am are:
MARAC Awareness Raising
This training was designed in response to front line workers bringing to our attention the need for greater understanding of the Multi- Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) procedures. Together with a Suffolk County Council Forum member college and an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor we designed a training package which has been delivered to several teams. At the time (2013) of designing this training MARAC referrals were low and it was identified by a SafeLives MARAC coordinator that there was a need for greater understanding of the process of the MARAC in order for the North Suffolk MARAC to reach the expected level of referrals, WDVAF continued responding to this need and 2015 MARAC referral continue to rise. Our findings have shown that frontline staff were anxious about referring as they were not sure what of the criteria, they were unaware of the conference and its purpose, they did not know how to get support to make the referrals. We continue to target front line staff with this package of training.
Domestic Abuse & The Family Courts.
This training is designed to allow professionals to develop an understanding of the Family Court process and how this impacts survivors of domestic abuse. Many survivors feel that become re-victimised by the court process when trying to make child contact arrangements with the absent parent. This course looks at the plight of survivors post separation and what legal remedies exist to support them. University Campus Suffolk together with WDVAF and local solicitors Norton Peskett offer this training to a multi-agency audience.
Awareness Raising Talks and Presentations
WDVAF offer talks to clubs, health providers, employers, social care teams, and any Statutory or Voluntary/third sector organisation who feel they need additional knowledge about domestic abuse and how to provide for the families impacted.
